About a year and a half ago I did family pictures for Emme and her mom and dad. Back then Emme was a little shy and wasn’t all that interested in doing pictures. We did get some sweet ones though. I’ll have to dig them out and post them later.

Mom just called me and wanted me to do some shots of Emme kissing her tummy before Baby K arrives in about two weeks. When I entered their house Emme came over and greeted me like a friend. Soo sweet! Then I got to see her pretty pink sleeping bag and a tour of her beautiful pink room and as a special treat I got to see Baby K’s room.

While mom and I talked about where to shoot Emme came running with a purple ballerina outfit and wanted to dress up like a princess. “Perfect!” said mom. “She practically lives in this, so it would be right.”

Well, let me know what you think. I think these shots turned out super sweet. Enjoy!

I love how Emme’s working her magic.  : ) What a sweetheart!

Last spring my oldest daughter turned 9. One of the things she had on her wish list was a kitten and who in their right mind can ignore that??! Well, I guess it helps that I love cats. I explained to her that yes, she would get a kitten for her birthday, but not until we got back from our Norway trip later that summer…and that her brother and sister would get one as well. I figured her kitten would need someone to play with and it wouldn’t be fair to get just one.

The kids got to pick out their kittens later that summer and they get all the attention a cat needs…and then some.

I happened to come across some pictures of the kittens from last summer a few days or weeks after they arrived at our house. I can’t believe how little they were. I’ll have to take some pictures of them now for comparison.

img_0028

Miss Ada, a lady! She is by far the most independent one of the bunch. Her colors are beautiful and her fur is silky soft. She will scratch the dog if he gets too close.

img_0041

Max is the most jittery one. Probably because he got his back legs stuck underneath a vehicle that was leaving and we didn’t think he would make it. He pulled through and the only “scarres” we can see is that he sits a little funny. He hates dogs with a passion but loves to snuggle the kids.

img_0046

B-Cat is like a big lion. His purring sounds like a big motor! The kids all agree that he needs to be in the basement at night, otherwise he keeps them awake with his purring and the fact that he likes to snuggle right by your face.  : ) He will even snuggle the dog! Nothing fazes him.

I will admit some days the cats are a pain in the ass. They will jump on the counter, eat your cereal, drink out of the toilet (if the lid is up), scratch my upholstered chairs, stink up the room their litterbox is in, if scared to death by the dog…miss the litterbox, tip over my plants…For the most part thought, they are so much fun to have around. I can see how much the kids love them as well. My son will pick up his kitten, B-Cat, and dance around the house. Ada gets dressed up in doll clothes. Max gets to ride in the doll stroller. Who can resist all that? Everyone should have a cat!  : )

Right after Christmas I was so fortunate to be able to go home to Elli’s house to capture a few moments with her. A couple of years ago I also photographed Bryce. He is so grown up now. Amazing! Here are some of my favorite shots. Enjoy!

elli-5-1
Here with big brother Bryce. What a cutie! Bryce was a great poser. Elli was a typical one year old, always on the go.  : )

Just love this antique look.

Nothing like the feeling of a wet and cold window. Mom’s all love the sticky mess it makes!

Story time. Both kids sat like angels listening to Mom read.

Jumping around in her crib. Angie is a great decorator. Her room is so fun with spring like colors.

A cozy quiet moment. The nice thing about the thumb is that it never gets lost.

Snuggle time…

Peeking through the sides of the bed. Love the toes! Have a good nap.

Yes! I know…sometimes it takes me a while to get through stuff. My family is usually the ones that have to wait. I’m trying to get ALL my photos processed. That means going through every file and doing something with them. Here are some shots from last year!!! Ezra turned 1 last February and I’m just getting to it now. There are a few cute shots of some of the boys running around in their underwear that I wish I could post, but have decided not to.  Here is a couple of shots of the birthday boy and his cousins playing pirates. Cute! First a few shots of baby Auryn.

ezrabday2008-36

Sweet Auryn and Jessica.

ezrabday2008-70

All partied out…

ezrabday2008-72

Jakob…trying to show me his pirate face.

ezrabday2008-75

Cousin Nick is also a great pirate!

ezrabday2008-81

Isaac staring me down with his good eye.  : )

ezrabday2008-99

Noah the pirate. The eye patch is cool, but a little tricky.

ezrabday2008-84

A bunch of pirates…up to no good…with their treasure map. Watch out!!!

ezrabday2008-871

Clue number one takes the pirates to the basement. They are just too cute!

ezrabday2008-88

They found the hidden treasure chest.

ezrabday2008-89

Now lets see if they can share or if it will be every kid for himself.

ezrabday2008-91

So far so good…

ezrabday2008-953

Jakob with his share of the treasure.

ezrabday2008-97

Noah has his part. Check out the ring on his finger. My kids were wearing the rings for days afterwards. Thanks for a great party guys!

Right before Christmas I had the pleasure of meeting Marie and her family. Marie is originally from Sweden and came over to live in the US at about the same age as me. What’s more amazing, we both live in the same town!

When I got to Marie’s house, her kids and their families were there. What a fun bunch of people! Nine, plus one auntie.

Here are some of the images from that day. I have to start with the funniest one of them all. Sam was THE poser of the day. He had endless styles and was a great help while I adjusted for lighting.  : )

agren-jul-2008-13

This one is just hilarious!

Amanda & Bryan. The kids got a break.

agren-jul-2008-118

After all the group shots I did individual portraits by the kitchen window, available lighting only. The light was really going fast, but I think I got some sweet shots of the whole family. Here’s Marie.

Finally! Before Christmas the kids got to bake some cookies and did they ever do a wonderful job! They had fun rolling and  stamping out the cookies. It was fun to see how focused they were on the whole cookie baking experience. We put lots of cookies in the oven that day. They got to sample some of the dough. Which, by the way, was delicious!!! Thanks Kristi for the wonderful recipe! I’ll add it after all the pictures. It is truly yummy!

A few days later we also decorated some cookies. That was just as fun. Icing, sprinkles…more sprinkles. I like to make colored icing and then sprinkle with the same color sprinkles. It makes them festive and fun. If you make the frosting fairly thick, you won’t even have to layer the cookies on waxed paper.

julebakst-43

There’s nothing like great memories of baking cookies for Christmas. I used to go to my grandmother Nelly’s house to bake. She would get out her big wooden block to bake on. I have one too and besides the great memories it is awesome for baking cookies!

julebakst-5

Stine with her IKEA rolling pin from Mormor. My sister and I used to use small ones as well. Rolling out dough can be tricky…but what a fun feeling.

julebakst-11

Looking like a pro.

julebakst-21

She is a precision baker,  just like most things she does.

julebakst-39

It sure looks like she’s been doing this for years.  : )

julebakst-7

It took Jakob a little while to figure out how to make the most of your rolled out cookie dough. He kept wanting to put a couple of stamps right in the middle, so us girls had to teach him. He got better as we went along.

julebakst-12

Baking cookies is serious business I guess.

julebakst-10

It was fun to watch the kids enjoying the smells and let’s not forget the over-kneaded dough. There’s nothing like sticky dough when you’re five I guess.

julebakst-211

julebakst-27

Careful transport of cookies to the stone for baking. Check out the backwards cap. I love it!

julebakst-9

Mamma had to adjust some of the cookies. It just isn’t very economical to bake only ten cookies at a time.

julebakst-4

STOP! No squishing the cookies!!!  I guess some of them had to be re-shaped.

julebakst-3

Rollin’ away.

julebakst-14

Maria does her very best. Gotta love how cute they look with their aprons on.

julebakst-31

Of all of us, I think Maria ate the most dough. ; )

julebakst-41

Jakob getting sick of rolling out dough. More fun to do the stamping. Mamma was busy documenting, so Maria helped out. Sweet sister!

julebakst-38

They were too focused to smile.

julebakst-35

Three amazing Christmas cookie bakers!

julebakst-29

Let’s drizzle some flower. One more time, for the camera.

julebakst-33

Alright! I think we’ll have to bake some more cookies before next year.

julebakst-32

Yummy!

I had the pleasure of making quite a few Christmas Cards this season. Here are a few. Enjoy! Also, wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and everything good for the new year. God Jul og Godt Nytt År!

xmascards2008-2

Laura called me to come out and get some pictures of her kids. I had fun chasing the kids around. Gavin was as willing as Gunnar was not. Gunnar wanted to drive the ATV around instead. Forget doing pictures, this kid is a machine buff.  : ) We had fun and got a variety of fun images.  For their 4×8 Christmas card I did a variety of styles and Laura immediately went for the retro look. Thanks for the fun day!

xmascards2008-5

This little princess was her mother’s favorite for the 5×7 folded watercolor card. It turned out beautifully!  Kenny herself came up with the wording, which I think is soooo sweet!

xmascardssss2008

Here is the inside that folds down. Aren’t the kids just yummy!

xmascards2008-4

Artsy feet. Too cute. I especially love how Pauley’s shorts look so short and Gabe’s shorts look soooo oversized. Let’s not overlook the baby chubs on Libby’s arms. Sweet!

xmascards2008

A 4×8 card from one of this years weddings. Natasha’s favorite shots are all included. Even the horses in the background. Great memories from an amazing day!

xmascardsg2008

Here is another one of my options.

xmascardsg2008-2

…and this one.

xmascards2008-6

My sister-in-law called me up, as usual  : ). “Hey, Kathrine, would it be any trouble to make a card for us?” Of course not! I love making cards and took the cute shot she emailed, enhanced it and made three different ideas. Both her kids and ours agreed on this design. This card is a 5×5 and as always metallic. I LOVE metallic!

xmascards2008-8

The first time I met Heather and Abe and their kids I did pictures for little Theron. He’s not so little anymore and this time I got to photograph the whole family. First we went up to a cabin and did some shots by appletrees and tall weeds. What a blast! Later I went to their hose to do a couple of headshots. Young kids are always challenging, because you have about two minutes to get what you need…then the’re DONE!  : ) Big brother Joey and Theron were awesome and I had a hard time putting my camera down. Thanks for playing with me! This is the front to their 5×7 folded watercolor card. The blue turned out just as bright and blue as I had imagined. The icy blue is Heather’s favorite color as well. Cool!

xmascards20081

Here is the inside. I just love the wording Heather added. Gotta love those toes!

xmascards2008-9

What a sweeeeet moment with the boys! I have to do something artsy with this shot later. It is just too cute!!!

xmascards2008-11

This is our card this year. I wanted a little space to add a personal message to each and every one. Usually I add a letter with updates from the past year, but this year I just didn’t have, or take, the time. There’s always next year! I enjoy getting them, so I’ll do my best.

xmascards2008-10

…and the backside.

Finally!!! Every year, the same thing…our Christmas card is always the last to get done, and always a last minute thing. Earlier this fall, before the school pictures, I was ready…but the kids were just not in the mood for pictures…and here we are, it’s almost Christmas.

Then, yesterday I lucked out! I spent about one minute on each of the girls and Jakob sat for about two minutes. Of course B-Cat had to be included, but anything to get the kid to sit still, right?!!! I got lucky. He even wore his pink party shirt. His cousin, Theodor, in Norway has one just like it. He’s not quite sure about the pink, but I keep telling him that with the BIG numbers on the back it is the coolest shirt.

Here are some of the shots I got and I will post our Christmas card soon. I would have loved to do a group shot of the three, but it just wasn’t going to happen. These pictures will also be used as their school photos for trading. The generic Herff stuff doesn’t do anything for me.

img_0547

Yes! There was a cat involved here as well. Max. Somehow he didn’t get included in any of the shots.

img_0562

Having new BIG teeth is always funny. And scratches in her face from the day before.

img_0572

No cat. Miss Ada was outside.

img_0574

Stine is absolutely growing into her BIG front teeth…and growing up waaaay too fast! I think she will be an actress or a singer some day. She is so talented!

…is what we wish for you this Holiday Season.

I put together a beautiful Christmas card for Kenny with her words. On the front is a shot of her daughter that just looked, well, heavenly. After putting the card together she also asked me to make an 8×10 of the same shot, but to make it different, just for Libby. Here are some of my ideas.

The idea for the butterfly illustrations were taken from the actual designs on the bottom of Libby’s dress.

Here again, details from her dress.

Here is the Christmas card. A 7×5 folded, printet on watercolor paper.

The front

Thanks for letting me photograph your beautiful family! My treat, for sure!  : )

Finally! I’ve been able to pick a few favorites from this summers best party – ever! Style, class and fun are just some of the words to describe Tonje’s wedding. She is a planner and darn good at it too. Nothing was done half way. Everything was top notch! On top of that there were fun people everywhere. Family, friends and even some people that showed up in disguise.

Congratulations to my favorite, and only, sister! : ) See you in October!
